Title:THE IMPACT OF REWARD ON EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION AND SATISFACTION IN RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS
Abstract:Most organisations face difficulties in choosing appropriate reward systems for their employees. A well-designed reward system is important to ensure that employees perform well. Weaknesses in the reward system can lead to problems such as insufficient motivation, poor productivity or high employee turnover. High levels of productivity, achievements and employee satisfaction are also important for achieving organisational objectives and remaining competitive in the market. It is therefore important that organisations have an effective reward system in place that encourages and provides appropriate rewards for employee performance. In this master's thesis, we examined the impact of different rewards on employee satisfaction and motivation in public research institutions in Slovenia. We examined how financial rewards, bonuses and praise affect employee motivation and satisfaction. A questionnaire-based survey was used to assess the level of employee satisfaction and to find out which factor improves the level of satisfaction. Using a sample of 138 employees in three research institutions in Slovenia, we investigated the impact of factors such as age, level of education, and length of service on employee satisfaction. We also investigated whether there are gender differences in employee satisfaction. We were also interested in whether fair pay, bonuses, and the possibility of promotion are factors in employee satisfaction. The results of the analysis showed that level of education, fair pay, rewards and the possibility of promotion are factors in employee satisfaction. Employee satisfaction does not differ between genders; age and seniority also do not play a role, while educational level has a positive impact on employee satisfaction. The survey of public research institutions has provided us with important information in this area, which was previously scarce for these institutions in Slovenia.
