Abstract:V diplomski nalogi raziskujemo obremenjujoče izkušnje iz otroštva dveh generacij in povezanost le-teh s travmo.

Title:ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES OF TWO GENERATIONS
Abstract:In this Bachelor's thesis we researched adverse childhood experiences of two generations and the connection of these experiences with trauma. By reviewing expert literature in this field, we aimed to present an even wider range of connections between these adverse experiences in connection with attachment styles and interpersonal relationships. We presented and explained adverse childhood experiences, what they can cause, and what impact they can have on an individual's life or what the consequences of this impact might be in later periods of life. Through qualitative research and analysis we obtained results that in the empirical part of the task confirm the findings of the theoretical starting points, namely that adverse childhood experiences among the interviewees were transmitted intergenerationally. Research also showed that the interviewees understood adverse childhood experiences as a traumatic experience. Regarding dealing with burdensome experiences and their consequences in adulthood, we found that the majority of participants do not trust professional services and prefer to work on themselves as a form of (self)help strategy in the sense of reading books, attending workshops, and alternative medicine. With this thesis, we aimed to shed light on the problem of intergenerational transmission of adverse childhood experiences, as it has a negative impact on both individuals and society as a whole, and to encourage individuals with such experiences to seek appropriate forms of help in a timely manner. Namely, all interview participants are aware that these experiences have been passed on to them intergenerationally, they all want to complete this transfer without passing it on to the next generations.
