Abstract:

Title:
OPTIMIZATION OF THE RENOVATION OF AN EXISTING SINGLE-FAMILY BUILDING INTO A BUILDING WTHOUT THE USE OF FOSSIL FUEL
Abstract:
The thesis presents the optimization of the renovation of an existing building, built in 1982, into a fossil fuel free building. Due to its size, ageing and inadequate thermal performance, the building represented significant heat losses and associated costs. The thesis includes an overview and presentation of the current legislation, guidelines and regulations in the field of energy efficiency in buildings, as well as the history and different types of heat pumps. The basics of heat transfer through building structures and indicators of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources are described. An energy analysis of the building in its current state and after renovation was carried out. The renovation carried out has increased the energy efficiency of the building, improved the living comfort and reduced the heating and domestic hot water costs. We ensured a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and increased the share of energy from renewable sources. In addition to the energy analysis, we also calculated the payback period in order to verify the economic viability of optimizing the renovation of the building.
