| Opis: | To identify the challenges of the digital transition, we examined the impact of various factors on digital skills in the European Union. We found out that there is only a weak positive correlation between the share of individuals who never use the internet and the absence of a basic overall level of digital skills. In addition, it was also identified that there was a weak positive association between the level of GDP per capita and the price of fixed internet and that there is only an insignificant positive correlation between the price of the internet and the share of individuals never using the internet. On the other hand, we were able to confirm that there is a negative association between the level of GDP per capita and the absence of a basic general level of digital skills and a negative correlation between the level of GDP per capita and the share of individuals who never use the internet. There are as well significant differences across the European Union in the share of the salary that individuals have to spend on fixed-line internet access. Finally, we also confirmed that in European Union countries with lower GDP per capita, individuals have to spend a higher share of their salary to pay for internet access. |
