Namen: Namen diplomskega dela je bil raziskati in ugotoviti vpliv trakcijske terapije pri cervikalgiji in cervikobrahialgiji ter analizirati njen prispevek k zmanjševanju bolečine in izboljšanju gibljivosti vratne hrbtenice. Metoda: Uporabljena je bila strategija analize podatkov. Obstoječo literaturo smo iskali v strokovnih bazah PubMed, Google Učenjak in PEDro. Ustrezne raziskave smo izbrali na podlagi vključitvenih kriterijev. Podatke smo obdelali s kvalitativno analizo strokovnih znanstvenih prispevkov.

Abstract:Theoretical Background: Neck pain is one of the most common issues of the musculoskeletal system. The cervical spine consists of seven vertebrae, which are surrounded and connected by soft tissue structures. Cervicalgia is defined as the presence of musculoskeletal pain, most commonly in the neck region. The diagnosis of cervicobrachialgia typically indicates serious condition, where a nerve root in the cervical spine may be compressed. Traction therapy is regarded as one of the conservative treatment options of cervical spine pain. Objective: The objective of this thesis was to explore and determine the impact of traction therapy on cervicalgia and cervicobrachialgia and to analyse how it reduces pain and improves the mobility of the cervical spine. Method: Data analysis strategy was used. Existing literature was searched in professional databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and PEDro. Relevant studies were selected based on inclusion criteria. The data were processed using a qualitative analysis of scientific contributions. The literature review was conducted from July 2023 to June 2024. Results: The sample for this thesis included 10 studies that met the inclusion criteria. Most of the studies concluded that traction therapy reduces pain. However, due to the heterogeneity of the studies, it is difficult to draw conclusions about a positive effect on mobility improvement. Discussion and Conclusion: Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that traction therapy helps reducing pain and likely improves cervical spine mobility when combined with other conservative treatments.
