Abstract:In this paper, I study in depth the importance of motivation in the art of dance, focusing particularly on my own creative process in putting on a performance for the purpose of my bachelor's thesis. I explore how motivation plays an integral role in dance and analyse my own motivation during the entire creative process. In order to acquire a comprehensive overview of motivation in the world of dance, I carried out a survey targeted at choreographers of different dance styles. The aim of conducting this survey was to explore how other dancers keep themselves motivated and what factors impact the increase or decrease in their motivation. In addition, I focus on challenges faced by choreographers when their dancers lose motivation. I study strategies that these choreographers use to prevent such loss and how actively they try to keep their dancers motivated during the creative process. The analysis of these approaches reveals different methods used by choreographers to create a positive and stimulating environment, encouraging creativity and increasing the commitment of dancers. In this way, my research covers both my personal experience and reflection as well as broader patterns and methodologies used in the dance community. Hopefully, these research results will contribute to a better understanding of the importance of motivation in dance and creative processes, as well as benefit choreographers and dancers in their creative work.
