Najpogostejša znana zapleta okužbe z respiratornim sincicijskim virusom sta akutni bronhiolitis in pljučnica. Rezultati: Za diplomsko nalogo smo prebrali in podrobneje pregledali 59 člankov in ostale strokovne literature in 2 vira v fizični obliki. Ugotovitve in ključne informacije smo prikazali in predstavili v Tabeli 1 v poglavju Rezultati. Razprava: Po prebrani strokovni literaturi in izbranih člankih, uporabljenih v diplomskem delu, smo ugotovili, da so avtorji v večini podobnega mnenja oziroma navajajo podobne izsledke.

Abstract:Introduction: Respiratory syncytial virus infections are an annual problem that occurs in the entire world population with higher prevalence and higher risk groups being premature infants, infants and children under one year of age, older adults, and groups of people with congenital heart or lung disease and immunocompromised persons. Respiratory syncytial virus occurs during the winter months. The most common known complications of respiratory syncytial virus infection are acute bronchiolitis and pneumonia. Respiratory syncytial virus infection does not leave any lasting immunity, so re-infections are common. Methods: In the initial part of the thesis, we used the descriptive method of research, as we reviewed the domestic and foreign professional and scientific literature on respiratory infections in infants and children (pediatric population) and presented them in the theoretical part of the thesis. Later, we also applied the complication method to the findings of other authors. Results: For the thesis, we read and scrutinised 59 articles and other professional literature and 2 sources in physical form. To answer the research questions, we scrutinised 9 sources. The findings and key information are presented and summarised in Table 1 in the Results section. Discussion: In particular we missed more recent articles that would provide new guidelines, especially for supportive therapy and management of severe respiratory syncytial virus infections, and especially articles that would present findings and conclusions in the Slovenian language.
