Abstract:The research aimed to understand the post-COVID-19 lifestyle of nurses and whether any changes occurred compared to their pre-infection habits. Additionally, the study explored factors influencing nurses in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Forty-nine nurses (87.76% female), aged 23 to 53 (M = 36.94, SD = 10.41), participated, responding to a questionnaire on the frequency of healthy behaviors, motivators, barriers, and changes in these behaviors post-infection. Following a COVID-19 infection, nurses, on average, adhered to most healthy lifestyle guidelines occasionally or frequently. Notably, they at least regularly engaged in relaxation techniques (only 3%), despite 55% experiencing occasional or frequent severe stress. Challenges were also noted in the domains of physical activity and sleep. Social support from family and friends emerged as the primary motivator for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, while a lack of time stood out as the most common barrier. Post-COVID-19 infection, there were, on average, no significant changes for the worse or better. It can be concluded that nurses strive to uphold a healthy lifestyle post-infection, potentially influenced by their awareness and knowledge acquired during education. Nevertheless, additional encouragement and support for constructive stress management and improved sleep hygiene are suggested.
