Abstract:Osgood-Schlatterjev sindrom (OSS) je pogosta poškodba zaradi prekomerne obremenitve patelarnega ligamenta, ki vse pogosteje prizadene mlade športnike.

Abstract:Osgood-Schlatter syndrome (OSS) is a common overuse injury of the patellar ligament, increasingly affecting young athletes. OSS typically occurs in boys aged 10–15 years and girls aged 8–13 years, often associated with excessive sporting loads, types of loads, playing surfaces, and physical growth. This study aimed to evaluate the short-term effects of a 6-week physiotherapy-kinesiology rehabilitation programme in young athletes with OSS. Twenty participants (aged 13–16 years) completed 18 sessions of an intensive programme comprising strength training, focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy (fESWT), and therapy EMMT. Body composition, contractile properties of the anterior (rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis) and posterior (biceps femoris) thigh muscles, and VAS pain levels were assessed pre- and post-treatment. The programme significantly increased overall muscle mass and reduced fat mass percentage (p < 0.001). In both legs, contraction time (Tc) was decreased and muscle tone improved, (Dm) (p < 0.001). Relaxation time was significantly reduced in the dominant leg for rectus femoris and biceps femoris muscles. Notably, VAS pain levels decreased significantly from 83.0 to 10.0 (p < 0.001). These findings confirm the programme's efficacy in improving muscle function, body composition, and reducing pain in young athletes with OSS.
