Podatke smo zbirali z anketiranjem. V raziskavi sta sodelovala 102 stanovalca doma starejših Danice Vogrinec Maribor. Rezultate ankete smo obdelali s pomočjo opisne in sklepne statistike v programu IBM SPSS Statistics 29 ter jih prikazali v obliki grafov in tabel s pomočjo programov Microsoft Office Word in Microsoft Office Excel.

Abstract:Theoretical background: Loneliness is a complex and unique emotional state when a person is subjected to a deprivation of social resources related to interpersonal relationships. Social isolation and loneliness have serious consequences for quality of life and well-being. The prevalence of severe loneliness among older people living in nursing homes is at least twice that of the community-dwelling population. Recent studies have reported even higher rates of loneliness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Social relationships are a fundamental need for healthy aging. Methodology: Quantitative research methodology was used with a survey questionnaire. 102 residents of the Danica Vogrinec Maribor nursing home participated in the research. The collected data were processed using descriptive and inferential statistics in the IBM SPSS Statistics 29 program and displayed in the form of graphs and tables using Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office Excel programs. Results: Based on the analysis of the obtained data, it was found that residents of the nursing home experienced higher levels of loneliness during the COVID-19 pandemic. The loneliness score was not related to the number of family visitors. There were also no differences in loneliness score according to the gender of the respondents. The respondent's self-assessment of health and well-being greatly influenced the score of loneliness. Discussion: Loneliness is often studied as a risk factor for many health and mental health problems. At the same time, poor health is a possible cause of social isolation and exclusion. Addressing the health needs of older people is an important means of promoting their level of social connectedness. Recognizing loneliness should be an integral part of the psychological and medical assessment in this population.
