Abstract:Ukrepi pandemije Covid-19 so močno vplivali na življenje otrok z motnjo avtističnega spektra (MAS) in njihovih skrbnikov. Otroci z MAS potrebujejo ustaljene rutine in predvidljivo okolje, saj jim to zagotavlja občutek varnosti in stabilnosti.

Abstract:The C-19 pandemic measures have significantly affected the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their caregivers. Children with ASD require structured routines and a predictable environment to ensure a sense of security and stability. Disruptions to these routines can lead to distress, exacerbation of symptoms, behavioral challenges, and deterioration of mental health. This master's thesis examines the impact of the pandemic on the behavior, social skills, mental health, and access to therapeutic services for children with ASD and their caregivers. The objective is to identify strategies to enhance support for this vulnerable group in similar future crises. Particular emphasis is placed on family adaptations and the effects of changes on family dynamics. The theoretical framework is based on a literature review of ASD, structured environments, stable routines, therapeutic support, and challenges faced during the pandemic. The empirical section analyzes 25 studies conducted between 2020 and 2022, presenting findings in tabular and graphical formats with a qualitative analysis of the data. The results indicate that children with ASD and their caregivers experienced disruptions in routines, increased social isolation, and challenges with remote education, all of which worsened ASD symptoms and mental health. Caregivers faced high levels of stress, negatively impacting family dynamics. However, families that implemented adaptations, such as teletherapy and visual aids, demonstrated greater resilience. The study highlights the need for sustainable solutions, including adaptable strategies, digital and mobile therapeutic services, and inclusive educational programs to better support children with ASD and their caregivers, particularly in crisis situations.
