Abstract:Presaditev krvotvornih matičnih celic je pomembna oblika zdravljenja različnih hematoloških in nehematoloških bolezni.

Abstract:Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is an important form of treatment for various haematological and non-haematological diseases. This type of treatment is associated with serious complications and, together with the underlying disease, affects various aspects of the patient's life. HSCT has both physical and psychological consequences for the individual. The side effects of the therapy are classified as acute or chronic and may affect, among others, the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The treatment of such patients requires a holistic approach and the collaboration of various healthcare professionals. One such professional is the physiotherapist, who plays a vital role in the rehabilitation of patients undergoing HSCT. Aim: The aim of this diploma thesis was to determine the effects of physiotherapeutic exercise on patients undergoing HSCT in the periods before, during and after the transplantation, based on a review of professional and scientific literature. Methods: This thesis employed a descriptive research method, a comparative method and the method of compilation. The literature review included nine studies retrieved from online databases such as PEDro, PubMed, ScienceDirect and COBISS. Findings: Physiotherapeutic exercise is an essential part of the holistic care of patients undergoing HSCT. For optimal outcomes, such exercise should be incorporated into the pre-transplantation, transplantation and post-transplantation phases. The most commonly used types of physiotherapeutic exercise include aerobic training, strength training and respiratory exercise. Reported effects include reduced fatigue, improved or maintained muscle strength, enhanced or preserved functional capacity and improved quality of life.
