Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Kineziofobija je pretiran in iracionalen strah pred telesno dejavnostjo. Metoda: V diplomskem delu smo uporabili metodo komparacije, deskriptivno metodo in kvalitativno analizo dokumentov. S pomočjo podatkovnih baz Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect in PEDro smo iskali ustrezne podatke. Uporabljene so bile besedne zveze: rheumatoid arthritis, kinesiophobia, fear of movement, fear-avoidance beliefs.

Abstract:Theoretical Background: Kinesiophobia is an excessive and irrational fear of physical activity. It arises from a sense of vulnerability due to pain or the possibility of re-injury. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune, chronic, and inflammatory joint disease. The aim of this thesis is to investigate, based on a review of scientific and professional literature, the prevalence of kinesiophobia in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Method: In this thesis, we used the method of comparison, the descriptive method, and qualitative document analysis. Relevant data were gathered using databases Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and PEDro. The following keywords were used: rheumatoid arthritis, kinesiophobia, fear of movement, fear-avoidance beliefs. Results: The final review included 11 articles published between 2015 and 2025. These were thoroughly analyzed, key findings were presented, and comparisons between them were made. Using the technique of coding and content category development, we identified 21 codes and grouped them into 3 categories. Based on the review of selected literature on kinesiophobia in patients, we found that the prevalence of kinesiophobia is up to 70%. Discussion: Predisposing factors for the development of kinesiophobia include functional impairment, pain intensity, depression, anxiety, body mass index, fatigue, lower education level, joint involvement, quadriceps strength, and flexion angle. Early diagnosis of kinesiophobia, patient education about the condition, and a multidisciplinary treatment approach are essential.
Keywords:rheumatoid arthritis, kinesiophobia, fear-avoidance model, physiotherapy, fear of movement
