Abstract:Partnerski odnosi predstavljajo ključen del posameznikovega življenja, zato razumevanje načinov odzivanja na konflikte prispeva k boljšemu vpogledu v kakovost partnerske dinamike.

Title:The Relationship between Attachment Dimensions and Conflict Resolution Strategies in Romantic Relationships
Abstract:Romantic relationships constitute a vital part of an individual’s life; therefore, understanding the ways in which people respond to conflict provides valuable insight into the quality of relationship dynamics. This study examined the associations between the dimensions of anxious and avoidant attachment and demographic variables (gender, age, relationship duration) with various subscales of conflict resolution strategies, with particular attention given to predicting destructive strategies and exploring gender differences. The findings indicate that participants expressed anxious attachment more frequently than avoidant attachment. The most commonly employed conflict resolution strategy was compromise, followed by avoidance and separation, whereas submission, interactional reactivity and domination, appeared less frequently. Analyses revealed a negative association between both attachment dimensions and compromise, and a positive association with destructive strategies, with avoidant attachment showing a stronger link than anxious attachment. In predicting the use of domination and interactional reactivity, avoidant attachment emerged as the strongest predictor, followed by anxious attachment, while relationship duration did not prove to be statistically significant. The study also showed no statistically significant gender differences in the expression of attachment dimensions; however, differences were observed in the use of avoidance and submission strategies, which were more frequently employed by men. The dimensional approach and the analysis of strategy subscales provided a more refined insight into relationship dynamics. The key finding is that attachment dimensions are more strongly related to conflict resolution strategies than demographic factors, thereby opening avenues for further research and practical applications.
