Abstract:The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the origins of language barriers, the types of language barriers, their causes, consequences, and ways to overcome them. The goal is to demonstrate the importance of clear communication and how to achieve it in international business. In the theoretical part of this research, the thesis presents existing solutions, but it argues that there will be fewer obstacles only when businesses start paying more attention to this issue. It also includes current cultural dimensions, which help explain certain cultural differences in habits, communication, and their application in the business world. After researching real-life cases and conducting interviews, we found that language barriers are a common obstacle in international business today. Some solutions to language barriers may not work equally well in every situation. However, when it comes to misunderstandings, most people resolved them in a similar way. An important lesson from the interviews is that calm and clear communication is key to solving communication problems. This makes up the empirical part of the thesis. Combining quantitative and qualitative methods helped to get reliable, complete information and confirm the hypotheses. Although many solutions have been proposed, there is still room for further research as AI and technology continuously advance.
