Abstract:Uvod in namen: Cerebralna paraliza (CP) je najpogostejša oblika gibalne oviranosti otrok. Omejitve: Raziskave z majhnim vzorcem preiskovancev, heterogenost pristopov in pomanjkanje dolgoročnih spremljanj učinkov terapij.

Title:Development of gross motor skills in children with cerebral palsy and the impact of physiotherapeutic treatment
Abstract:Introduction and purpose: Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common motor disability in children. Early physiotherapeutic intervention plays a key role in promoting gross motor development, particularly in the early stages when neural plasticity is at its highest. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic methods and techniques in improving the gross motor skills of children with CP. Methods: A descriptive approach was employed through a literature review, examining studies published between 2015 and 2025 in the PubMed, PEDro, and Cochrane Library databases. Only English-language studies with fewer than 20 participants, focusing on children up to the age of 18, were included. Results: Analysis of 25 studies reveals that individualized and combined physiotherapy treatments significantly improve the gross motor skills of children with CP. The key factors affecting the effectiveness are the intensity and duration of treatment, the age of the child, and the degree of motor impairment. The most significant therapeutic benefits are observed in functionally oriented, high-intensity exercise (30 to 45 minutes, 3 to 5 times per week) for a duration of 8 to 12 weeks. Usability: The results of the final work provide a basis for developing individualized physiotherapy programmes, adapted to age and functional level, enhancing the precision and effectiveness of clinical practice. Limitations: The main limitations of the reviewed studies include small sample sizes, heterogeneity in therapeutic approaches, and a lack of long-term follow-up.
