Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Inkontinenca urina in blata pri starostnikih predstavlja pomemben zdravstveni in socialni problem, ki vpliva na kakovost življenja, samopodobo, socialno vključenost in psihološko počutje pacientov. Podatki so bili zbrani, transkribirani, kodirani in analizirani z uporabo vsebinske analize, pri čemer so bili dosledno upoštevani etični standardi raziskovanja, vključno z načelom prostovoljnosti, anonimnosti in zaupnosti udeležencev.

Title:The Role of Nurse in the Treatment of the Elderly Eith Urinary and Fecal Incontinence
Abstract:Introduction: Urinary and fecal incontinence in the elderly is a significant health and social problem that affects the quality of life, self-esteem, social inclusion and psychological well-being of patients. The purpose of the study was to examine the role of the nurse in the treatment of the elderly with urinary and fecal incontinence. The purpose of the study was to examine the role of the nurse in the treatment of the elderly with urinary and fecal incontinence. Methods: The study used a qualitative research approach using the semi-structured interview technique. Ten nurses participated in the study, who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected, transcribed, coded and analysed using content analysis, with strict adherence to ethical research standards, including the principles of voluntariness, anonymity and confidentiality of participants. Results: Nurses perceive their role primarily as holistic, professional, empathetic and important. They recognise symptoms of incontinence, implement preventive and therapeutic measures, advise on devices, educate patients and relatives and offer psychological support. We found that incontinence negatively affects self-esteem, causes shame, social isolation, reduced activity, sleep problems and financial burden. Discussion: The results highlight the importance of an individual and holistic approach in the treatment of people with incontinence and the need for additional education of nurses in this area. Proposed improvements include increasing staffing, more time for comprehensive treatment, use of better quality devices, education of employees and relatives, and destigmatization of incontinence in the social and professional environment.
