Title:Learning Motivation of Patients in Health Promotion Centres
Abstract:Introduction: Through this research, based on a comparative analysis of the functioning of Health Promotion Centres in Slovenia and Lithuania, we examined the learning motivation of patients participating in health education activities. In this way, we determined the level of motivation among respondents, explored the factors influencing their learning motivation, assessed their opinions on the appropriateness of educational content, and identified the extent to which they are willing to engage in lifelong learning for the purpose of taking care of their own health. Method: The research employed the descriptive method, the compilation method, the comparative method (involving the comparison of facts, opinions, and phenomena), and the deductive method, which enabled us to derive insights based on theoretical foundations and survey results. Data collection was conducted using a quantitative research approach, specifically the survey technique. This technique allowed us to explore and gather data, information, and attitudes related to the studied field. The empirical part of the research was based on a review of domestic and international literature and literary databases. Results: The research showed that Slovenian respondents are more motivated to engage in education than Lithuanian respondents and that they consider most factors influencing learning motivation to be more important compared to their Lithuanian counterparts. Both groups rated the educational content as appropriate. However, Slovenian respondents indicated a greater willingness to invest time in education for the purpose of maintaining their health. Discussion: Slovenian and Lithuanian patients assessed the impact of factors on learning motivation and the adequacy of programs in health education institutions in a similar way. Nevertheless, differences were observed in their willingness to learn and their expectations for improving educational programs.
