In sicer o Borutu Pahorju, Alenki Bratušek, Miru Cerarju, Marjanu Šarcu, Janezu Janši (tretji mandat) in Robertu Golobu. V raziskavo so vključeni najpomembnejši slovenski mediji, ki zajemajo tiskane, spletne in televizijske platforme: Delo, Dnevnik, Večer, Mladina, 24ur.com, Siol.net, RTVSLO.si, Nova24TV, TV Slovenija in POP TV.

Title:Framing: Between Interpretation and Manipulation
Abstract:This master’s thesis explores the framing of political opponents in the Slovenian media landscape, with a particular focus on the strategies of legitimation and delegitimation employed in the representation of prime ministers of the Republic of Slovenia. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of framing within the broader context of political communication theories and distinguishes it from related notions such as interpretation and manipulation. Special attention is given to theoretical models of framing and strategies of legitimation, which serve as the analytical framework of the study. The empirical part is based on an analysis of media coverage of Slovenian prime ministers: Borut Pahor, Alenka Bratušek, Miro Cerar, Marjan Šarec, Janez Janša (third term), and Robert Golob. The research corpus includes the leading Slovenian media outlets across print, online, and television platforms (Delo, Dnevnik, Večer, Mladina, 24ur.com, Siol.net, RTVSLO.si, Nova24TV, TV Slovenija, and POP TV. The analysis reveals that Slovenian media predominantly frame prime ministers through delegitimation strategies that highlight their personal weaknesses, incompetence, or political inadequacy. Legitimation frames are less frequent and generally associated with extraordinary circumstances or individual achievements. The findings confirm that framing functions as a powerful tool of public opinion formation in the Slovenian political arena, while media discursive practices play a crucial role in the processes of political legitimation and delegitimation. The thesis thus contributes to a deeper understanding of the relationship between media and politics in Slovenia and offers an analytical model applicable to broader research in the field of political communication.
