Abstract:This paper explores the role of smart technologies in supporting elderly individuals, particularly those in rural areas, to enhance their quality of life, social inclusion, and independence. Based on an analysis of selected scientific articles, it has been established that smart technologies, such as telemedicine systems, smart sensors, and digital platforms for social support, hold significant potential for improving healthcare and social care services for older adults. These tools reduce loneliness, improve safety, and enable elderly individuals to remain in their homes longer. Nonetheless, implementation challenges remain, especially due to the digital divide and limited technical skills among older users. Further research should explore effective strategies for user education, infrastructure development, and long-term impact evaluation to maximize the benefits of smart technologies for the elderly population.
