Abstract:Uvod: motnje temporomandibularnega sklepa predstavljajo skupino heterogenih nevromuskularnih in mišično-skeletnih obolenj, ki prizadenejo velik delež svetovnega prebivalstva. Združevanje manualnih tehnik z drugimi terapijami zmanjšuje bolečino in izboljšuje funkcijo čeljusti.

Abstract:Introduction: Temporomandibular disorders represent a group of heterogeneous neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions that affect a large proportion of the global population. These disorders manifest through numerous signs and symptoms, including myofascial pain, limited joint mobility, joint sounds, and impaired orofacial functions such as mandibular deviation, difficulties in swallowing, chewing, speaking, yawning, and breathing. Methods: A qualitative method was applied, including a review of professional and scientific literature searched in databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and PEDro. In the theoretical part, the descriptive method was used to present key facts and data related to the researched topic. In the empirical part, methods of analysis of selected data from the reviewed literature and interpretation of the examined studies were applied. Results: The results of all included studies confirm the effectiveness of combined physiotherapeutic approaches in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders. It should be emphasized that the integration of manual techniques with other therapies (such as laser therapy, kinesio taping, dry needling, and massage) appears effective, as it enables a comprehensive approach to pain, jaw dysfunction, and related symptoms. Conclusion: Multidisciplinary and combined physiotherapeutic approaches represent a positive strategy in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders. The integration of manual techniques with other therapies reduces pain and improves jaw function. For further progress in this field, larger-scale studies will be essential, aimed at optimizing therapeutic protocols and verifying the long-term effects of individual and combined approaches.
