Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Sindrom fibromialgije je kronični bolečinski sindrom. Pozitiven vpliv fizioterapevtskih postopkov bolnikov s fibromialgijo, daje fizioterapevtski stroki poseben pomen.

Abstract:Theoretical background: Fibromyalgia syndrome is a chronic pain condition characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain affecting multiple areas of the body. It is associated with reduced physical function and increased pain sensitivity. The management of fibromyalgia symptoms also involves physiotherapeutic interventions. Methodology: In addition to basic descriptive statistics, a quantitative research approach was used, employing a self-developed questionnaire. The sample consisted of 53 patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia syndrome in Slovenia. The results were interpreted using numerical and percentage-based tabular presentations, processed with Microsoft Excel. Results: The findings showed that 71.7% of respondents were physically active, most commonly exercising three to four times per week (21%), with physical activity most frequently lasting up to 15 minutes (55.3%). The most commonly reported barriers to physical activity were fatigue (41.5%) and the presence of pain (39.6%). Aerobic exercise was the most frequently performed type of physical activity (55.3%). The majority of respondents (65.8%) reported improved well-being after physical activity, with symptoms being less intense in most cases (73.9%). The most frequently reported painful areas were the cervical spine (62.3%) and the upper limb (60.4%). Most respondents (79.2%) had already undergone physiotherapy due to fibromyalgia syndrome. The most commonly experienced physiotherapeutic modalities were transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (73.8%) and ultrasound therapy (69.0%). Physiotherapy most often had a beneficial effect on the symptoms of fibromyalgia syndrome. Discussion: Patients with fibromyalgia syndrome perceive physiotherapeutic interventions as effective in reducing pain perception and improving overall well-being, which consequently leads to an improved quality of life. The positive impact of physiotherapeutic interventions in patients with fibromyalgia highlights the important role of physiotherapy in the multidisciplinary management of this condition.
