Abstract:V zgodovini je orožje predstavljalo moč, obrambo, nadvlado. To velja še danes.

Abstract:During the history, weapon represented power, defence, and authority, which is also the case today. Due to many people feeling safer with owning guns in their homes in the last few years the number of weapon per person has risen, especially in the USA. Because of the rising number of mass shootings and because of pompous and thorough reports by the media, the fear among people that every resident could be the target of the next attack, the fear is getting stronger. One of the goals of these mass shooters is also "immortality" which is achieved through such actions since they remain remembered by them, even if in a negative way. Slovenia has not yet had a case of mass shootings, but in the last few years there have been some so called extended murders, where there is no biological connection between the shooter and the victim. This area of expertise is in Slovenia relatively unexplored. In most cases, if not in all of them, there is some kind of psychological burden forcing the perpetrators to commit criminal action, because this seems like the only solution for them. They feel double-crossed, inferior, humiliated and blame others for his material, financial or health condition. Does the weapon legislation play the lead role in all of this? Would stricter law reduce the number of mass shootings and extended murders? We have to bear in mind; mass shootings are not an entirely new topic. The fact about illegal weapon accessible on the black market is also of significant importance.
