Abstract:Magistrska naloga obravnava področje uporabe tehnologije LTE za dostop do širokopasovnega omrežja, predvsem na ruralnih območjih brez širokopasovnega dostopa. Omejitve predstavljajo visoki stroški izgradnje omrežja, neuspeli podobni projekti v preteklosti in visoke cene pridobivanja frekvenčnih licenc.

Abstract:Master thesis treats with the scope of LTE technology usage for broadband access, particularly in rural areas without broadband access. Initially fixed and mobile broadband networks are presented with the focus on LTE technology. In the context of fixed broadband networks cable networks, xDSL networks and optical networks are detailed presented. By mobile broadband networks a 3G and 4G networks with technologies HSPA+, WiMAX and LTE are introduced. Following a presentation of broadband networks in Slovenia in conjunction with the requirements of the European Digital Agenda and the acquisition of radio frequencies for the purpose of constructing and providing services of mobile networks are presented. The main part of the paper ends with a SWOT analysis of the LTE usage and building multi-criteria decision-making model. In conclusion, we determine, that the LTE technology can represent an appropriate solution for broadband access. Restrictions are related with a high cost of network construction, failed similar projects in the past and the high cost of frequency licenses acquiring.
