Abstract:Today's digital photography and mobile phones which include digital cameras too, have become accessible to a wider public. Mobile phones, being faster and smarter, have a lot of applications and technologies, that can ease our life or we just can’t imagine one without them. Among of technologies there is a global positioning system, better known under acronym GPS. With its help we can figure where on the planet we are. The manufacturers of mobile phones efficiently combined the technology with the camera, which led to the geotagging, the process, in which the coordinate data are saved in a photograph’s EXIF format during its capture. To understand the geotagging, it’s necessary to examine the EXIF format, which is the basis for saving the geolocation data. This means that the examination of literature which is available primarily on the internet will be needed. Geotagging is relatively young technology which is based on older technologies, the EXIF format and the GPS system. We have learned that some websites clean such sensitive data, and some do not, so the study also describes some of the tools with which you can clean such information by yourself and ensuring your privacy on the internet.
