Abstract:Mišice vratu in zgornjega dela trupa so zaradi prekomernega sedenja in nepravilne drže močno izpostavljene utrujanju.

Title:CORELATION BETWEEN BALANCE IN DIFFERENT BODY POSITIONS AND FUNCTIONAL DECLINE OF THE DEEP NECK FLEXORS
Abstract:The neck- and upper torso muscles are severely exposed to fatigue, due to excessive sitting and incorrect posture. It is well known that the deep flexor muscles serve as stabilisers and therefore contain several proprioceptors, which serve as a source of information to the CNS. Fatigued muscles can be a cause of various body asymmetries, leading to pain and other pathologies that have a strong effect on the perception of the somatosensory system. This consequently affects the individual's balance. It could be concluded that training of the deep neck flexors could improve the neck position and muscle function and the perception of body movement. It would affect the ability to maintain balance and upright posture. The study was conducted on 20 subjects with an average age of 24.35 years (± 4.04 years). The selection was made according to the questionnaire on their medical history, which excluded inappropriate candidates. Using a tensiometric force plate, data on the oscillation of CPP in the anterior-posterior and medial-lateral directions were captured. Depending on the variables, two-factor variance analysis was made. Final results indicated statistical significance of the effect of fatigue on balancing tasks, differences in balancing tasks on an unstable surface, and the effect of fatigue on balance tasks (p <0.05). This led to the conclusion that fatigue has an impact on the deep neck flexors which play an important role in the inflow of somatosensory information for maintaining balance. For future implementation of this study, it would be advisable to choose a wider and more diverse population, which could result in more accurate results. Future research should focus on investigating function of neck muscles’ function in different neck pathologies.
