Abstract: | The master thesis "Economic Sanctions against the Russian Federation from the food sector point of view", we dicsussed the concept of economic sanctions against the agriculture and food industry in the Russian Federation. Economic sanctions, together with other factors such as rising of oil prices, the fall of the Russian state currency, the rubble, and russian self-sufficiency in the period from 2014 untill today, marked the whole Russian economy, encluding agriculture and whole food industry. Economic sanctions have recently been shown to be ineffective in general, and against the Russian Federation as well. In the master thesis with a deductive method, as the basic method, we determined the effectiveness of economic sanctions throughout history, and the siding inductive method, the success on the Russian economy. In the empirical part of the study, we studied the hypotheses posed by the statistical method in publicly accessible web portals. We gave a closer look at economic sanctions in the ban on the import of agri-food products from the West, and their influence on food export indicators of EU member states, especially Germany. With the final goal - finding the efficiency or inefficiency of economic sanctions on the food industry, we discovered, that Germany, despite sanctions, remains important economic partner of the Russian Federation. We have proven to what extent such economic sanctions, embargo imposed and increased self-sufficiency have influenced the growth of prices in the supply of food products in the Russian Federation. We have determined the impact of the Russian embargo on price growth and the supply of goods for a shorter period of time, which proves that the Russian Federation with its current state program is on the right path for the production of cereals and pork meat. |
