Iskali smo s ključnimi besedami: bolečina v križu, biopsihosocialna obravnava, rehabilitacija in Šola proti bolečini v križu.

Title:LOW BACK SCHOOL
Abstract:The aim of the graduation thesis is to present the main schools and to compare their objectives, working methods, programme content and other components of handling the patients with low back pain. In addition, the impact of biopsychosocial factors on low back pain was established, as well as the ways how different schools approach back pain. Different approaches and forms of group work were studied. The author examined the impact of work place and social interactions on low back pain and how Back Schools solve these issues. The focus was on the comparison between the elements of the Slovenian school and other schools. Three hypotheses were set up in advance that were used as the basis for establishing whether the Slovenian Back School can compete with other leading Back Schools around the world, whether Back Schools share similar or common objectives, and whether the elements and working methods of school after Friderika Kresal are comparable with other schools. The material for the research was gathered from Slovenian and English resources. The following databases were used: PubMed, Google, COBISS, Google Scholar, PEDro and SpringerLink. The key words used for the research were: low back pain, biopsychosocial treatment, rehabilitation and Back School. The main objective of all schools is to make patients take the responsibility for their health and healthy lifestyle. The advice coming from these schools can be used in preventive as well as in curative healthcare. It has been established that the schools objectives are very similar or even the same, while there are minor differences in the number of patients within individual groups, medical teams, duration, content and programme implementation. The research revealed that the Slovenian Back School established by Friderika Kresal can definitely compete with other schools or can even exceed them in some aspects. The Canadian and the Slovenian school attribute a lot of attention to biopsychosocial factors that play an important role in the LBP treatment. The schools encourage patients to do sports and be physically active and they suggest them to avoid stressful situations at home and at work. Further research would be needed to examine the suitability of methods of the low back pain preventive programme as well as to study the efficiency and outcome of Back Schools. In order to successfully change the lifestyle of patients we need to set up adequate preventive healthcare programmes that would be suitably adjusted to patients psychophysical abilities, medical condition and social environment. With a view to successful results, patients should not just adopt a passive approach but should assume part of the responsibility and actively participate in the entire therapeutic process. Only by being active in the training process of the Back School and by maintaining psychical and physical condition patients can become resistant to back pain and retain their general health.
