Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava pravice in položaj gluhih in naglušnih v Sloveniji v primerjavi s pravicami in položajem gluhih v Avstriji, na Hrvaškem in na Švedskem.

Title:Rights and position of deaf and hard of hearing persons in Slovenia and EU
Abstract:The master's thesis deals with the rights and the position of the deaf and hard of hearing in Slovenia compared to the rights and position of the deaf in Austria, Croatia, and Sweden. Every day, the deaf and hard of hearing face different challenges related to hearing impairment. Researchers show that deaf and hard of hearing individuals face major difficulties when they have to communicate with hearing people. Communication problems occur on a day-to-day basis and are particularly evident in the education process and later in employment. Research shows that it is the deaf and hard of hearing who have the lowest employment rate in Slovenia as well as in other countries. The assignment consists of two parts. The first, theoretical part of the thesis states the position of the deaf and hard of hearing in Slovenia - with the help of theoretical findings of various researchers - in the field of education, employment, and the use of sign language and also defines the law on personal assistance. As for Slovenia, the positions and rights of the deaf and hard of hearing are also defined for Austria, Croatia, and Sweden. The second, empirical part of the assignment consists of two parts. In the first part of the empirical part, the differences and similarities between their positions are explored by comparing the position of the deaf and hard of hearing between Slovenia and the three European countries (Austria, Croatia, and Sweden). In the second part of the empirical part, the survey analyzes the satisfaction of the deaf and hard of hearing with the situation they have in Slovenia. At the end of the empirical part, some suggestions for improving the position of the deaf and hard of hearing in Slovenia are given. The research findings are useful as teaching literature for improving and in-depth knowledge of the position of the deaf and hard of hearing.
