Abstract:S starostjo se vid slabša.

Title:The importance of vision and aging for preventing falls
Abstract:With age, vision diminishes. Changes, however, have a significant impact on the daily life of the elderly. The increased need for assistance with basic daily activities is associated with decreased visual acuity. Vision helps to maintain balance during movement, with which we can detect the orientation of our own body in relation to the force of gravity and movement. The aging process also impairs balance, which increases the risk of falls. Falls are becoming a major public health concern as they are one of the main causes of injury and death for older adults. Falls in the elderly trigger fear, which triggers depression, anxiety, and decreased physical activity. Although some studies have not found a significant association between visual acuity and the risk of falls, older adults with low visual acuity have a higher risk of falls. Healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, socializing and communication, help to improve the well-being and self-confidence of the individual.
