Abstract:Uvod in namen: Telesna nedejavnost in prekomerno sedenje sta pomembna družbena problema sodobnega časa. Rezultati: Preiskovanci so bili telesno nedejavni 656 ± 72 minut dnevno.

Title:Physical inactivity of physiotherapy students
Abstract:Introduction and purpose: Physical inactivity and prolong sitting time are major social problems of modern times. They are associated with higher risk of chronic and cardiovascular diseases and also injuries of the musculoskeletal system. Negative consequences of sitting time and lack of physical activity are already shown in children and young adults. That is why we were interested in the physical activity habits of the physiotherapy students and we also wanted to know if SIMPAQ questionnaire is an accurate tool for determining physical inactivity. Methods: The study included 41 students (15 men and 26 women). Physical activity was measured using accelerometer (Actigraph, GT3, USA), worn on right hip for 7 consecutive days. After the measurement, students also completed the SIMPAQ questionnaire. Results: Participants spent in physical inactivity 656 ± 72 minutes/day. Women reported 47 percent less time spent in exercise than men. We made Bland-Altman analysis and linear regression. We found that average physical inactivity, measured by both methods, was linearly related to the separation of physical inactivity (p<0.001), the slope of the line is -0.991, which means that the questionnaire is not valid. Usability: Validity of SIMPAQ questionnaire would help in quicker and easier measuring of the level of physical inactivity of the entire population. Limitation: The research has to be made on larger sample of participants and with more specific and exact questions.
