Abstract:Being aware of the fact that workplaces are transient and in average each jobseeker finds himself eight times on the labour market the diploma thesis titled Written communication with a potential employer deals with types of writings individuals use when applying for a job. The diploma thesis presents the first job applications from the past till today when modern technologically developed forms and methods are used. We have introduced differences between traditional or passive types of job search as well presented methods how to be actively involved in job search. Furthermore, the thesis also shows the reasons that make individuals jobseekers. We have analyzed elements of a good side letter and CV and listed some most currently used descriptons and versions in details. Some examples of innovative writings are indicated. Attention is given to one advice found in employment manuals – there are always enough workplaces. If we really cannot find proper employment, we have to change the methods of search we have used so far. The empirical part of the thesis deals with the methods used by jobseekers. We have set seven logical hypotheses and introduced some of interesting findings. The results gained have been properly interpreted and shown in graphs. The thesis finishes with practical suggestions and recommendations for future development of good practice.
