Abstract:Mobing je dalj časa trajajoča sovražna in neetična komunikacija enega ali več sodelavcev.

Abstract:Mobbing (or bullying) in a workplace is defined as continuously hostile and unethical communication between one or more co-workers over an extended period of time. Its negative effects can be felt by the victim and it can affect the environment or the company where mobbing takes place. Having witnessed mobbing in the past, I am interested in this issue. As part of my research, I conducted 10 separate half-structured interviews among employees in Slovenian companies. I asked the interviewees similar questions, addressing in particular: the presence of mobbing among employees; its causes and consequences; where to turn in order to get help; and finding suggestions for reducing the occurrence of mobbing. Considering the fact that my research was being written at a time when the economic crisis impacted companies' businesses, I was also interested in whether successful companies have less mobbing than companies experiencing economic difficulties. To this end, I separated the answers into two groups and later compared them. The interviewees' answers confirmed the existence of mobbing in Slovenian companies, and they also confirmed its strong impact on one's work. Employee satisfaction is an important part of any company that wishes to be successful and reach its set goals. No matter the level of the company's success, the interviewees' answers were similar. Lack of communication and lack of empathy are some of the main reasons for the rise of mobbing. Prevention and education are the best tools towards reducing mobbing, for both individuals and companies.
