Abstract:The modern way of life brings different consequences for people, which affect both physical and mental health. The absence of mental health is very burdensome for both the individual, his family and society. In addition to the classic method of treatment, an alternative approach is also being applied in practice as an aid in the treatment or preservation of mental health, which is also very important for physical health. One of the more popular alternative methods is yoga. Alternative forms of treating mental disorders are important in particular in accompanying basic treatment, especially if the disorders are large, then they are also required by medical treatment. For yoga we can say that it is much more than just physical training, it is exercise of the spirit and leads individuals to discovering themselves. In the thesis, we studied the differences in the individual perception of quality of life and mental health among individuals who regularly train with yoga and those who do not. The survey included two groups, the first one in which individuals were regularly practice yoga practice and another one in which individuals were not involved in yoga. Individuals who practice yoga sleep better, are more relaxed and have a better quality of life. Based on the results we can say that there are differences in the quality of life in the field of mental health between individuals who practice yoga and those who do not. However, differences do not exist between the sexes. From the results of the research we can conclude that those who practice yoga are more satisfied with both their mental and physical health. Results due to the sampling and insufficient number are not generalized to the entire population.
