Abstract:The period of emerging adulthood is time when individuals develop from adolescence to adults. In the past the transition to adulthood was connected to traditional crossing points that are toda no longer valid. And in modern society the prolonged youth is quite common. The purpose of this thesis is learn about the lives of young adults, their transition to independence and determine how do they themselves look at this process. The thesis explores the period of transition of young people into adulthood. In the theoretical part we discussed important aspects of the period of emerging adulthood. Therefore, we have defined the period of early adulthood, the transition to adulthood, the importance of family and partner relationships and fields of education and employment. The second part or empirical part of the research paper is based on qualitative research, with which we wanted to determine which factors most affect the independence of young people. The results that we have obtained through interviews showed us that the independence of young adults is a complex process that depends on many interlocking factors.
