Abstract:V Sloveniji je samomor zelo pogosta oblika smrti. Kljub želji pomagati samomorilno ogroženim ljudem je še vedno opaziti pojav stigme do tega področja in do iskanja pomoči v primeru čustvenih težav.

Abstract:Suicid is a very common reason of death in Slovenia. In 2017, 411 people took their own lives which is four times more people that they died in road accidents. The number is rather worrying if we know that suicide affects on average six people who are close to the deceased. Nevertheless, there is not much talk about suicide in public. We can say that suicide is a stigmatized topic. Many times, even the search for professional help whwe faced with psychological problems, is stigmatized. The relatives of people who commited suicide are also stigmatized. The beginning of awareness about the problem of suicide should start already among adolescents. In the diploma thesis we are checking the knowledge and understanding of suicide among young people in Slovenia from 15 to 25 years of age. We also want to examinen the extent to which there is a stigma to suicidial phenomena, relatives and people seeking help in mental distress, especially when faced with suicidial thoughts. Is tehir call for help heard? We were also interested in the young people opinion about the seek of psychosocial help and what did they thing about solution of the state. We found out that young people were poorly informed about the problem suicide, although they would like have more knowledge about it. Despite their desire to help suicidally deprived people, we noticed that the phenomenon of stigma related to the problem of suicide and seeking for help in the event of emotional problems, is still present. The results show that there is still a lot to be done on educating young people in the field of suicide and destigmatizating it.
