V raziskavo empiričnem delu naloge so vključene tri udeleženke, ki domačnost in intimnost s svojim doživljanjem gojijo s pomočjo meditacije čuječnosti in preko osebne izkušnje psihoterapevtskega procesa. Zajema individualno udeležbo kandidatk v 10-dnevnem programu raziskovanja sočutja in kasneje v izvedbi individualnega polstrukturiranega intervjuja. Podatki, zbrani z dnevniki in intervjuji so nato analizirani in predstavljeni preko interpretacije.

Abstract:Master’s thesis is exploring different ways in which self-compassion can manifest in the individual’s experience, let it be in prevention or in alleviation of suffering. Self-compassion is observed in a variety of its expressions, but always in a relation to individual’s sensitivity to his suffering and in the quality of his relationship towards himself in the midst of suffering. There are two aspects that are brought to closer attention: on the one hand, the processes in self-experiencing and self-engaging in experiencing, that are supportive to arising of compassion, and on the other hand, the changes that self-compassion brings in the experience of self. Theoretical part consists of three chapters. First one is showing a way, in which compassion towards others arises and expresses itself as a motivational force. Secondly, compassion is described within the experience of Buddhist contemplative tradition, which acts as a strong source of the research and practices of compassion in the West. Lastly, self-compassion is presented in multiplicity of its experiential expressions, which are described also in relation to experiencing of self and in relation to cultivation of compassion practice within regions of motivation and intention. There are three female participants included in this study, which is presented in the empirical part of the thesis. All of them are nurturing the familiarity and intimacy with their experience through mindfulness meditation and personal involvement in psychotherapeutic process. The approach of interpretative phenomenological analysis is guiding the way, in which the study is conducted. The study encompasses participants’ involvement in a 10-day compassion-exploring programme and their subsequent involvement in the semi-structured interview. Data collected with diaries and interviews, are then analyzed and interpretations presented.
