Abstract:Namen doktorske disertacije je ugotoviti, kako sta povezana notranji dialog in agresivna vožnja. Z namenom odgovoriti na zastavljeno vprašanje in preveriti predpostavke v disertaciji opišemo različne teorije agresivnega vedenja in notranjega dialoga, dejavnike vpliva in razlike v pojavnosti obeh konstruktov.

Abstract:The purpose of the doctoral dissertation is to establish relation among inner dialogue and aggressive driving. We assumed the following: (1) during driving, the driver is aware of the inner dialogue; (2) inner dialogue of aggressive driver is negative; and (3) negative inner dialogue increases aggressive driving of car drivers. With the purpose of answering the set question and to check presumptions, in the dissertation we describe various theories of aggressive behaviour and inner dialogue, influence factors, and differences in occurrence of both constructs. Further, we connect and present inner dialogue and aggressive driving within the theoretical model of influence of inner dialogue on aggressive driving. Connectedness of inner dialogue and aggressive driving is also checked using survey with a population sample of 727 Slovenian drivers. In the survey encompassing quantitative and qualitative methods, we also included experiment by using driving simulator and semi-structured interview. The purpose of the latter is to obtain a more deepened description of driver’s inner experience during driving. The results of the survey show that to a great extend drivers are aware of inner dialogue during driving, that inner dialogue co-influences the emergence of aggressive driving, and that inner dialogue of aggressive drivers is negative. At the same time, the presence of other functions of inner dialogue (self-evaluation, self-directing, self-control etc.) that also influence the way of driving and other behaviours during driving is also confirmed.
