Abstract:Diplomska naloga obravnava področje timskega dela in profesionalnega razvoja učiteljev. Poklic učitelja v osnovni šoli zahteva stalen proces učenja in profesionalno rast vsakega posameznika.

Abstract:The thesis deals with an area of teamwork and professional development of teachers. Being a teacher in primary school requires not only continuous learning but also constant integrated professional development of each individual. One possibility of professional improvement is the enhancement of team work among teachers. Teachers participating in the team, complement each other, namely they have different skills and knowledge but usually always high motivation to work in a team and a desire for personal growth. In 1996 the school law for Slovenian primary schools was changed which heavily affected the so far established teaching practices heavily. Much emphasis has been put on the elements of teamwork, planning, collaboration, teaching and descriptive assessment in the first triad. In our thesis we examined how often teachers implement elements of teamwork in their teaching practice, and whether they are successful and effective in this manner. Besides, we focused on the first class of primary school, where we tried to find out the following: what teachers feel about the overall change in the Primary Education Act and weather they think that the teamwork is increasing confidence among colleagues and build good relationships. Results of our studies, using qualitative and quantitative methods, have shown that in primary school, teamwork is present and effective in several areas in form of co-operation, teaching and planning. Teamwork encourages trust and good relationships between employees, which sometimes grow into friendship what is of a great importance for teachers. Last but not least, results have shown that teaches in general have negative opinion on the descriptive assessment, where the vast majority believes that it is appropriate only in the first and second grade of primary school.
