Abstract:Tematika brezposelnih mladih diplomantov je aktualna tema. Vsi si želimo stabilno zaposlitev. Iskanje take zaposlitve z vidika posameznika je pomemben del našega življenjskega cikla. Zaposlitev nam predstavlja ekonomsko in socialno neodvisnost, zato si brez nje težko načrtujemo življenje, kariero in družino. V drugem delu je predstavitev kvalitativne metode dela s fokusno skupino z namenom pridobivanja mnenj in stališč o brezposelnosti mladih diplomantov.

Abstract:The topic of young unemployed graduates is a relevant issue. We all desire for stable employments. The search for such an employment, from the individual’s point of view, makes an important part of our life cycle. Employment represents our economic and social independence therefore it is difficult to plan our lives, carriers and families without it. Young graduates face uncertainty in the labor market, which makes them more prone to social exclusion and thus social inequality in other fields of life. In order for these employment seekers to improve their employment chances, i.e. employability, and to increase their competitiveness in the labor market, they need to be aware of their weaknesses and errors in seeking employment. The thesis studies developments in the labor market, particularly in the area that touches the employment of young graduates. It is divided in three parts. The first part discusses the concept of unemployment, employability and the labor market in Slovenia, while at the same time identifying the factors affecting the employment of young graduates. The second part contains the presentation of the qualitative working method applied to a focus group, with the purpose of acquiring opinions and views on the unemployment of young graduates. The most important part of the thesis is reserved for the presentation of the acquired data. The key finding in the thesis states that for the successful employment of young graduates, several factors are important. While an individual can’t influence certain external factors, he/she can exert influence upon his/her actions in the process of searching for employment. Namely, it is becoming more and more evident that a graduate seeking employment needs to claim a growing responsibility for the path he/she is taking towards employment and consequently material and social security.
