Abstract:Prostovoljno delo predstavlja enega od osnovnih odzivov civilne družbe na njene potrebe in brani interese ogroženih, prikrajšanih, marginaliziranih in izključenih posameznikov in skupin.

Abstract:Volunteerism represents one of the civil society’s key reactions upon its needs. It protects the interests of the endangered, the deprived, the marginalized and the excluded. Volunteer work is practised by individuals by their own free will, for the good of others or the greater good, without the prospect of payment or any other material benefit. Our thesis is focused on the analisys of the volunteer work performed by the Search and rescue dog handlers, who operate within the national forces for protection, rescue and relief. By analizing the data extracted from our survey, which was compiled by eighty fellow handlers, we managed to show the main characteristics of their volunteer work and acknowledged their dissatisfaction regarding their own position.
