Starši in otroci večinoma konflikte rešujejo konstruktivno, s sklepanjem kompromisov in pogajanjem.

Abstract:The quality of family life has become increasingly significant for parents lately. Good communication and effective conflict management are of crucial importance. My paper defines a family, a conversation, communication, conflicts and conflict management strategies. It has been established on the basis of quantitative and qualitative researches that the communication between parents and children is good and that sons have a better relationship with their parents than daughters. Furthermore, the conclusions of the above mentioned researches have shown that the communication between parents and children in the urban environment does not differ in any way from the communication between parents and children in the rural environment. Moreover, these researches have proved that the communication with the mother depends immensely on the feeling of trust towards the parents, the feeling of being loved by them and on the feeling of cosiness at home. Nowadays, parents talk with their children much more than they used to. However, they believe that is still not enough. The topics of their conversations are their needs, desires, experiences and emotions. There are various types of communication depending on the family. Conflicts between parents and children emerge in various fields of life, such as education, social activities, relationships and obligations within a family. They can be managed in many different ways, some of which are successful, some, however, are not. The conflicts between parents and children are usually resolved constructively by reaching compromises and by negotiating. On the basis of the conclusions, some proposals have been made for effective management of conflicts between parents and children.
