Abstract:Jezik je glavno komunikacijsko sredstvo.

Abstract:Language is a basic means of comunication. It is a carrier and developer of messages. As such, it is the basis of diplomatic and actually all communication, regardless of the level of doscourse. With technology advances, the high level of discourse transformed from something that was only available to very few very educated people to something that anyone with an internet access can use and participate in. Expanding access to such discourse definitely comes with consequences. In this thesis I am analysing the quality of political discourse on the Internet, especially through social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube) where users are anonymous at least to a certain degree. In the theoretical part I explain the basic terminology, like what social networks even are, how do they work, etc. Among the basic terminology there is a special mention of anonymity, which is always a divisive part of a discussion about freedom of speech and the internet in general. I put an emphasis on Lacan's theory of four discourses, as the analysis of chosen examples in the empirical part is based mainly on its applications. The beginning of the theoretical part is dedicated to a quick overview of the journey internet made since its beginnings. Empirical part consists of some practical examples from the mentioned social networks and interview analysis. Through these, I analyse the influence that social networks have on political discourse.
