Cilj magistrskega dela je ugotoviti, kakšne posledice v duševnem zdravju, tako v otroštvu kot v odraslosti, ima lahko posameznik, ki je bil v otroštvu izpostavljen nasilju v družini. Vsebina magistrskega dela je razdeljena na tematske sklope. V prvem delu je predstavljena družina kot sistem, funkcije družine, vzgojni stili, teorija navezanosti ter nasilje v družini. Opredeljene so vrste nasilja v družini, povzročitelji nasilja in ranljive skupine. V osrednjem delu magistrskega dela je predstavljeno in opredeljeno nasilje nad otroki v družini ter opisane oblike oziroma vrste nasilja. V osrednjem delu naloge so prav tako opisane posledice nasilja nad otroki v družini. Predstavljene so težave v duševnem zdravju otroka, ki so posledica nasilja v družini, ter anksioznost in depresija v odraslosti kot posledica izkušnje z nasiljem v družini v otroštvu. Anksioznost in depresija ter nasilje nad otroki v družini so prikazani kot dejavnik tveganja za razvoj anksioznosti in depresije v odraslosti. Zadnji del magistrskega dela je empirični in prinaša študijo primera. Predstavljen je primer odraslega moškega, ki je imel v otroštvu izkušnjo z nasiljem v družini, v odraslosti pa ima težave z anksioznostjo in občasnimi depresivnimi obdobji. Podatki so zbrani s pomočjo dveh nestrukturiranih intervjujev in enega delno strukturiranega intervjuja ter analizirani in interpretirani na podlagi kvalitativne analize. Na podlagi preučevanja literature, raziskovanja ter izvedbe študije primera ugotavljamo, da nasilje nad otroki v družini vpliva na razvoj težav v duševnem zdravju v otroštvu, kot tudi v odraslosti. Osebe, ki so bile v otroštvu izpostavljene nasilju v družini, pa imajo večjo možnost za razvoj težav z anksioznostjo in depresijo v odraslosti. Abstract:

The Master's thesis titled “Domestic violence against children as a risk factor for mental health problems” examines domestic violence against children and its impact on their mental health. The goal of this master’s thesis is to determine what consequences an individual who was exposed to domestic violence in childhood can have in mental health in childhood and later on in adulthood. The content of the thesis is divided into thematic sections. The first section describes the family as a system, and its functions, and parenting styles, attachment theory, and domestic violence. Here, we identify types of domestic violence, the perpetrator, and groups that face a higher risk of being exposed to domestic violence. The central section of the thesis describes and identifies domestic violence against children and describes the forms or types of violence. Furthermore, in the central section, we describe the consequences of domestic violence against children. Here, we examine mental health problems in children resulting from domestic violence as well as anxiety and depression in adulthood as a result of domestic violence in childhood. We describe anxiety and depression and examine domestic violence against children as a risk factor for the development of anxiety and depression in adulthood. The last section of the thesis consists of the empirical part, a case study. It is a case study of an adult male who has experienced childhood domestic violence and has problems with anxiety and occasional periods of depression in adulthood. The information and data for the case study were collected through two unstructured interviews and one semi-structured interview and were analysed and interpreted based on qualitative analysis. Based on our review of the literature, our research, and case study, we note that domestic violence against children is a contributing factor in the development of mental health problems in childhood as well as adulthood. Furthermore, people, that were exposed to domestic violence in childhood are at increased risk of developing anxiety and depression in adulthood.
