Metode: S pomočjo deskriptivne metode dela smo s pregledom domače in tuje literature preverjali delovne hipoteze. Uporabnost: Predstavitev različnih načinov izvajanja fizioterapije v pred- in poporodnem obdobju s ciljem zmanjšati nastanek poškodb presredka oziroma obvladovati možne posledice tovrstnih poškodb. Omejitve: Omejitveni dejavniki med pisanjem diplomske naloge so starost raziskav, nedostopnost do polne vsebine člankov in raziskav ter plačljivi članki.

Title:THE ROLE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENT AFTER PERINEAL TRAUMA
Abstract:Introduction and purpose: Giving birth can cause lacerations of the perineum, resulting in possible urinary or faecal incontinence. The purpose of the thesis was to examine the causes, prevention, and treatment of perinatal perineal injury by reviewing the literature. Methods: Using descriptive methods, we tested the working hypotheses by reviewing the relevant literature in the Slovene and foreign languages. Online databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, COBISS, and websites dealing with perineal tears were used. Results: Studies show that perineal massage and pelvic floor muscle training during pregnancy reduce the risk of severe perineal injury, while mediolateral episiotomy reduces the risk of third- and fourth-degree perineal tears. In treating urinary and faecal incontinence, exercises for strengthening the pelvic floor muscles are the most effective. Usability: Presenting various forms of physiotherapy in the pre and postpartum period to reduce the risk of perineal tears or manage the possible consequences of injury. Limitations: Research limitations of the thesis include the age of the studies reviewed, the inaccessibility of the full texts of papers and research, and high article fees.
Keywords:perineal tears, urinary and faecal incontinence, perineal massage, pelvic floor muscle training, episiotomy
