Abstract:The purpose of the master's thesis is to conduct an empirical research on the challenges in the field of HRM at the public research institute on the basis of domestic and foreign literature. Through the online questionnaire, the employees of the public research institute answered the questions about the organization and development of the field of HRM at the institute. Based on the results we found that on average the respondents are most encouraged to remain employed at the institute by the following factors: interpersonal relationships, interesting work and personal development opportunity. Employees are least encouraged by salary, praise, recognition and institute reputation. In the following we were interested in whether the institute is strategically and systematically engaged in the process of human resources management and development. The results revealed that the institute has already developed basic procedures in this area but it is necessary to invest some effort in improving the current situation, especially in establishing succession system, formulating a key personnel management strategy and human resources management and development. With the help of a survey we identified factors that encourage respondents to stay employed at the institute and research the development of individual areas. The obtained results will help us in the further development of the human resources management with which we want to achieve a working environment where employees will be satisfied and will not decide to leave the institute.
