Abstract:Nasilje v družini predstavlja kompleksen družbeni pojav. Doktorska disertacija obravnava izsledke raziskave opravljene z globinskim intervjuvanjem laičnih posameznikov in raziskave opravljene s pregledom državno tožilskih spisov.

Abstract:Domestic violence is a complex social phenomenon. It has occurred during all periods throughout history and in all geographical areas, regardless of ethnic, philosophical and religious beliefs of the individual family in which the domestic violence occurs. Acts of domestic violence are impacted by a number of factors. This doctoral dissertation presents the results of research conducted through in-depth interviews of lay individuals and of research conducted through reviewing the files of the public prosecution service. The two studies focus on the relation between domestic violence in the secondary family and that of the primary family. It has been found that the presence of past domestic violence in the primary family of at least one member of the secondary family affects the greater exposure of the secondary family to violence, and that the current negative relation between a member of the primary family and a member of the secondary family affects the current exposure to domestic violence in the secondary family. Along with the two studies, the marginally collected data has led to the conclusion of a statistically significant relation between either increased or reduced tolerance to violence inflicted by an individual, being a consequence of the experience of domestic violence in the primary family, and of the individual’s immediate or hesitant decision to report domestic violence in the secondary family to law enforcement. It has been found that the past and current impacts of the primary family on domestic violence in the secondary family are important factors in the occurrence of domestic violence. The findings of the doctoral dissertation provide a basis for the legislative branch of government in finding appropriate systemic and legislative solutions to ensure appropriate treatment of domestic violence and a starting point for dealing with the perpetrators of domestic violence by means of the jigsaw puzzle approach.
