Abstract:The environment concerns us all, as it is linked to every area of life on our planet. It affects the quality of our life and health, work and safety. As Europeans, our common goal is to protect and improve the environment. In the recent decades it has become obvious that the global environment is under serious threat due to human activity, such as air and water pollution, looting of natural resources (forests, fish), extermination of animal species due to the destruction of their habitat and the evergrowing threat posed by climate change. Having said that, mankind has more than enough knowledge and technological skills to refrain from further damage. The EU has done an exceptional job of protecting and conserving the environment over the last few decades by making agreements on concepts of conduct, publishing legal regulations and adopting measures to implement and fund pioneering research in favour of innovative environmental solutions and lastly, having an immense impact on public awareness. Furthermore, EU is a key player paving the way in taking effective climate measures. The central part of my thesis is environmental policy and legislation of the European Union and climate change, as well as the global struggle for a healthier humanity
