Abstract:In the diploma thesis, we found out how moving from one country and continuing to live in another country affects the independence of young people. The research focuses on young people who moved from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Slovenia. Due to the great economic crisis, social and political challenges that Bosnia and Herzegovina is still facing, the country's economic growth is greatly slow down. The latter has a marked negative impact, especially on young people. Some young people stay with their parents after graduating from high school or college because they do not have the financial means to work, so they are not financially independent for their independent life and cannot leave their parents. Due to the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, some young people had to leave their country and move. Young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina are increasingly leaving their homeland to find their secure future. Young people leaving their country are looking for a better future and additional education in another country (Slovenia). In this research, we use a qualitative method based on a semi-structured interview. Ten young people, one boy and nine girls aged 22 to 26 are taking part in the interview. In this article, we explore how the arrival of young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Slovenia influenced their independence? The paper finds that the motives for young people to leave the country are the consequence of the desire for further education and the acquisition of new knowledge and experience, which is associated with the making of more life opportunities and easier employment.
