Title:Physical therapists' perspectives on psychosomatics and somatopsychics
Abstract:We know today, that soul and body are not two separate entities, but they operate in a cause and effect relationship. As a result, the biopsychosocial model of health has become established in health care, which in addition to physical condition also includes psychological and sociological factors. Consideration of psychosocial factors in the treatment process influences the improvement of the quality and succes of physiotherapy. The purpose of thesis is to study psychosomatics and somatopsychics and to analyze the differences in the familiarity of physiotherapists with this issue and to determine the possible connection of these differences with gender and work experiences of physiotherapist. Statistical analysis confirmes that there are individual differences in the acquaintance of physiotherapists with psychosomatics and somatopsychics. The connection between these differences with gender and work experiences was not confirmed. In reviewing the literature, we came to conclusion that physiotherapists are aware of the importance of psychological support in physiotherapy and perceive it as a professional responsibility. The thesis is mainly useful for raising awareness of the importance of the biopsychosocial approach to the treatment of the patient. Thesis is also a good starting point for further research in this area.
